Seoul Square

서울역 앞 대우센터빌딩은 1970~80년대 불이 꺼지지 않는 빌딩으로 불리며 우리나라 경제의 성장을 상징하는 건물이었다. 서울스퀘어라는 이름으로 새롭게 탄생한 본 프로젝트의 리노베이션 설계에서는 역사적 상징성을 가진 외관을 유지하여 도시경관의 연속성과 인지도 측면에서의 강점을 가져가는 동시에 내부에서는 새로운 이미지를 부여하여 뚜렷한 대비를 만들어 내고자 하였다. 가볍고, 유연하고, 친환경적인 이미지가 저층부의 상업시설과 고층부의 오피스 모두 공간적 구성이나 재료 및 색채의 사용, 조명환경, 예술작품 등에 일관되게 표현하여 통일된 전체상으로서의 서울스퀘어를 완성하였다.

Daewoo Building a symbol of the Korean Development is located in front of Seoul Station. In this renovation project, “Seoul Square”, we focused on maintaining the outer appearance of the building which is a historic symbol. This design decision was made to keep the building’s value as well as to have continuity in the city-landscape. The interior of building focused on creating a new image to have a clear contrast with the exterior of the building. The image of the building, light, flexibility, eco-friendly, are expressed by the space composition with material choice, color, light and art works. With all this, it helps create a clear unity in Seoul Square.
